I’m Howard Glynn, I live in South East London with my wife and kids. At this point I normally labour the point that I am a born and bred Geordie from the coast near Newcastle-Upon-Tyne in North East England, and yes I am a life long NUFC supporter!
I grew up programming on 8-bit home computers, carried on at University and most of the first half of my technology career involved software engineering in a variety of languages and situations.
I’ve been using public cloud since late 2010 starting with AWS and later with Azure and Google Cloud. I’ve been an AWS Solutions Architect Pro since 2014 and Azure Cloud Platform MCSE Charter since 2016. I love learning for and passing certs!
My day to day role is as a Director at PwC UK within the Cloud CoE doing all manner of interesting things with customers on those public clouds.
I am proud to be a Chartered IT Professional, awarded by the British Computer Society (BCS) in 2013. This rigorous assessment validates specialist knowledge and skills, and an ability to succeed in multifaceted technology roles.
When I get the chance, I love fitness activities. I have completed over 50 triathlons including an Ironman, several marathons, dozens of half marathons and countless other 5Ks and 10Ks. I don’t tend to do races anymore, but I still do lots of running and cycling, and sometimes a bit of swimming which is my least favourite!
Finally, I am very interested in self improvement, productivity and mindfulness.
I read and listen to lots of books about effectiveness, communication and ways of working. I try hard to stick to the GTD philosophy to manage all my commitments. I have been practising daily meditation using Headspace for many years. A few years ago I managed to get my daily streak to over 1000 days but for various reasons lost it and am back to a more ordinary 200+ days at the moment.
